My Favorite TV Episodes of 2009

As the year’s end approaches, many critics and bloggers have been sharing their Best of 2009 and Best of the Decade lists. Making a list of my favorite shows of the year and/or decade seemed too daunting, so here’s my more manageable contribution. These are not necessarily the best episodes of 2009, although there is [...]

2010 TV Wishlist: Kill This, Save That, Free Them

This holiday season, I wish…
For someone to put Heroes out of its misery. It’s time. Most viewers have abandoned it, and those who are still watching seem to be doing so out of professional obligation, habit or just to see how badly it’s gone off the rails. What was once a promising phenomenon has turned [...]

NBC Slates ‘Parenthood’ Behind ‘Chuck’

NBC’s new drama series Parenthood will premiere Monday, March 1 at 9 p.m.
The series, which is loosely based on the 1989 film, features a great cast that includes Peter Krause, Craig T. Nelson, Monica Potter, Erika Christensen, Sam Jaeger and Marguerite Moreau. Lauren Graham has taken over for Maura Tierney, who exited due to health [...]

‘Friday Night Lights’ Actors on the Big Screen

I don’t often post about movies here, but I thought it was worth making an exception for some much loved Friday Night Lights actors.
This Friday, Nov. 13, brings the limited release of two new films featuring Connie Britton, Adrianne Palicki and Zach Gilford. If you’re in Los Angeles, you even have the chance to see [...]

New ‘Friday Night Lights’ Opening Credits Get Injection of Red

Friday Night Lights kicked off its fourth season on DirecTV this past Wednesday.
It was wonderful.
Eric and Tami Taylor continue to be one of television’s most loving, sexy and engaging married couples. The season premiere finds Tami, played by the fantastic Connie Britton, overwhelmed, defiant and supportive. When she takes what little revenge she can against [...]

‘Friday Night Lights’ Cast Talks Season Four

Are you ready for some football?!
No, I have not become a face-painting fan of the sport, but I am a hardcore fan of Friday Night Lights, which kicks off its fourth season on DirecTV Oct. 28.
Amidst all its boneheaded moves these past two weeks — canceling Southland, banning Glee from the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade [...]

The New Faces of ‘Friday Night Lights’

Notice a lack of diversity on TV? Not on Friday Night Lights.
DirecTV, which will begin airing the fourth season on Oct. 28, has released a bunch of new cast photos and character descriptions. The new season will feature several new faces to make up for the departures of Minka Kelly, Adrianne Palicki and Zach Gilford, [...]

2009 Emmy Picks and Snubs

With the 61st Primetime Emmy Awards airing tomorrow night on CBS, I figured it was finally time to offer my last minute Emmy picks. But as is the case every year, looking at the list of nominees just made me irate about all the worthy snubs. So instead of just offering my pick for who [...]

Where Have All the Family Dramas Gone?

It’s been three years since “Everwood” signed off the air and almost five years since the first season was released on DVD. While fans of the show will finally be able to buy season 2 on DVD Tuesday, they may have to wait even longer for another show like “Everwood” to come along.
When The [...]

DirecTV Plans ‘Friday Night Lights’ Post-Game Show

DirecTV will present “Friday Night Lights Live” when the critically acclaimed but low-rated drama makes its debut Oct. 1 on the satellite provider’s The 101 Network.
The 30-minute “postgame” show will allow viewers to call-in and talk to two or three cast members from the show live after each new episode of the series airs.
Asked if [...]

2008 TV Wishlist

The new year is usually a time of reflection and resolutions. Instead of reflecting on the past TV season, we make the following wishes for the coming year, some more attainable than others.
1.) An end to the writers’ strike – More than anything, let’s hope that 2008 brings an end to the writers’ strike with [...]

Snubbed: Stars Who Should’ve Gotten A Golden Globe Nomination

The Golden Globe Awards have officially been scrapped and replaced by a press conference announcing the winners. Snubbed performers and filmmakers can take comfort in the fact that come Golden Globe night, the nominees will be at home too.
Steve Carell (Dan in Real Life)
As the obnoxious Michael Scott, Steve Carell is nominated in the “Best [...]

Comings and Goings in Dillon

According to Ausiello, Matt Czuchry has landed himself an arc on Friday Night Lights as a devout Christian radio host. Definitely an interesting change from his role on Gilmore Girls as Richie Rich Logan. The storyline ties him to Lyla, who seems to have her litter of boys this season: Jason, Tim, convict Santiago, and [...]

Best TV Couples

The Teen Idols: Zack and Kelly, Saved by the Bell
Who didn’t swoon when Zack set up a picnic outside of the high school prom when Kelly couldn’t afford to go? Despite their ups and downs, through Zack’s many girlfriends and that slimy, college boyfriend of Kelly’s, the fans always knew the high school sweethearts were [...]

Best TV Shows You Aren’t Watching: ‘Friday Night Lights’

The praise has been spread high and wide by critics, but for whatever reason, people aren’t watching NBC’s incredible Friday Night Lights, perhaps the best written, acted and produced show on television.
Not a show about forensic specialists, lawyers or doctors, Friday Night Lights shines a microscope on regular folks living in a small town fueled [...]
