Nothing brought me greater joy yesterday than reading on Entertainment Weekly that Bryan Fuller is adapting The Lotus Caves as a new TV series for Syfy. Lotus Caves is a novel by John Christopher about “rebellious lunar colonists [who] dare to take a peek beyond their borders and discover a bunch of brainiac aliens living in the caves of the title,” according to EW.

I follow Fuller on Twitter and have been greatly enjoying his delightful twitpics from all over the world this past year, but a part of me couldn’t help hoping that he’d stay put long enough to make my new favorite show, so this is great news. Fuller has created some of my favorite quirky TV shows — Dead Like Me, Wonderfalls, Pushing Daisies — and wrote the best hour of Heroes (season one’s HRG-centric “Company Man”). This also gives me hope that I may watch something on Syfy one day. I’m afraid that aside from Caprica, the network has been losing me in recent years. And since the barometer for success is much lower on cable, perhaps this will be one Bryan Fuller series that won’t get prematurely canceled. If it’s picked up.

Until then, we have a pressing matter to discuss…

I loved Dead Like Me before and after Fuller left and Pushing Daisies was a dazzling technicolor feat of romance and humor, but my vote goes to Wonderfalls. “Did the cow creamer tell you that?”
