Updated 7/13/10 – Being Erica was renewed for a third season by the CBC and SoapNet in May. Read about the new season here.
Being Erica is only about to start its second season in the U.S. on Jan. 20, but already fans are wondering about season three.
The Canadian series, which gets a second life here in the states on cable network SoapNet, has already wrapped up its second season on Canada’s CBC. So will Erica’s journey continue for another season?
“There is no official word as of yet” from the CBC, creator Jana Sinyor said during an interview with Staying In.
But don’t fret just yet, fans. Signs for a renewal “are looking very positive.”
“We’re very optimistic, but we don’t know for sure what’s going to be happening,” Sinyor added. “We have a good feeling.”
The show’s run on SoapNet has attracted many ardent supporters, from TV critics/reporters to bloggers to TV fanatics. SoapNet will even host a panel for the show on Tuesday at the Television Critics Association Winter Press Tour.
Sinyor has taken note of the response.
“Both myself and Aaron Martin – we run the show together – we keep up with all of the reaction. We go on the SoapNet website. We read the U.S. blogs,” Sinyor said. “It’s very important. It’s fascinating for us. It’s like it has this whole second wind kind of thing. It’s finished airing in Canada and now it’s just about to start up again in the states. We’re very excited.”
Although the series has yet to receive an official pickup, that hasn’t stopped Sinyor and her staff from getting the ball rolling on another season.
“We started to plow ahead on season three with early stages of development,” she said. “Figuring what we’re doing. Writing scripts and stuff like that.”
Being Erica‘s second season premieres Jan. 20 at 10 p.m. on SoapNet. The network will air a marathon of the first season on Jan. 17 from 11 a.m. to 12 a.m.
Check out my complete interview with Sinyor here, as well as Q&As with Erin Karpluk, Michael Riley part 1 and 2, and Sebastian Pigott.

I LOVE Being Erica! It is such a good, insightful show! I love the quotes and therapy – It is not about changing the past – but the lessons that we have learned from it.
Watching the show is like my own personal therapy. It is so inspirational. Although fictional, we can apply the things Erica learns to our own lives. We are so over encumbered by American shows that it is great to finally see a Canadian show that has something to say. It is so much better than the crap that we have been so tirelessly inundated with. PLEASE, return with a 3rd season!
Being Erica MUST return for a third season as the cast and show is SUPER.
This season CBC is a wasteland , what is on is stupid. !!!!!
I love this show! It’s such a refreshing change from all those so called “reality” shows. It’s complete fantasy, but I have reality every day and when I watch TV it’s to escape for a short while, nothing more. What better way to escape than with a bit of time travel? Haven’t we all wished we could do the same at one time or another? C’mon CBC! Ante up and fund something we actually want to see for a change!
Please, PLEASE, let there be a third season of Being Erica. This show deserves to live on.
There is too much crap on TV and not nearly enough quality, nevermind quality CANADIAN content! I know good taste is dead among the masses, but those who appreciate interesting plot devices, character development, and being respected as an intelligent audience by showrunners and writers love Being Erica. I really hope viewers will be rewarded for their loyalty with more great TV.
I tell everybody to give Being Erica a chance and watch it online, and from there, beleivers are made and hope is formed for a third season – and I don’t even have to do any convincing. This show does it on it’s own.
*here’s to hoping there will be more adventures ahead for Erica Strange!*
Well said CJ.
Being Erica is sate of the art Television entertainment. Intriguing inventive and authentic Canadian TV that I really enjoy and and appreciate. It has to be renewed and that CBC hasn’t jumped for it is just stupid.
Please keep filming this show! I love it. The lessons in each show are lessons that everyday people can apply to their lives. The time I spend watching this show is my “relaxation time”. Please do not take that away! Oh, I do not get Soapnet and Being Erica is not on any other channel that I know of so I watch it on Meagavideo. Thank goodness for them!
I’m in the US and have already watched Being Erica online, but you can be sure I’m going to watch it again on SoapNet! This show is amazing! Its cute, fresh, and exciting! She goes back in time in every episode! EPIC!!
Omg I will literally die if they don’t renew it!
Oh my goodness. I hope you don’t *literally* die…
Personaly, I would be kind of upset.
I just found the show on hulu last week, and I LOVE it!! I’m watching the 2nd season online now (I’ m in Ohio) and I hope there’s a 3rd season!

Thanks again for turning me onto this show. It’s so smart and charming. In fact it gives me a lot of the same things that Sex And The City did, and that movie romcoms never do anymore. I also enjoy the fact that the show doesn’t feel the need to explain exactly what the therapists are, etc — it’s pure whimsical fantasy and you just need to go with it.
When I originally commented I clicked the “Notify me when new comments are added” checkbox and now each time a comment is added I get four emails with the same comment. Is there any way you can remove me from that service? Thanks
I’m afraid you can only remove yourself. There should be a unsubscribe link in the emails.
I love, love, love, love “Being Erica”. It’s the greatest tv show ever.

Really. Cast and plot — it all has heart in it. And that’s marvelous.
My doctor says if there is no season 3, it is likely I will pine away and my heart will break! Waiting, waiting, waiting………….
really enjoyed this show. Where is season 3?!
Yes, season 3 please! And GET KAI BACK! He was the main reason I got hooked on the show. I want more of that Kai/Erica magic!
Sebastian Pigott is a terrific actor – Not to mention his great singing – and his notable good looks! And, oh the chemistry with Erin! So GET HIM BACK for Season 3 puleeeze!
Please Please Let there be a season 3, 4, 5 and more.
This is the best show ever! The only show I really look forward too, and schedule my time around.
Such a great concept, makes me reflect on my own life, and how I could make positive changes!!!!
Just started watching on HULU a few weeks ago and I’m obsessed with this show! I can’t wait to watch the last seven eps of season two and HOPE fervently that there’s a season three. I love every character in the show (well, maybe not Jude or Jenny). One question, though — are all of the men in Canada as thin as Dr. Tom, Kai and Ethan?
No dear they are defenitly not but some thin me are sexy too and kai is one of them lol
I love this show!! Absolutely love it!
I truly hope it comes back to Canada for Season 3. It would be such a shame as I know a lot of people that enjoy it.
It’s not reality tv but it’s so true to reality, especially for us 30 somethings, trying to make it in this crazy world!
they should totally go into the future back to ky and see if he looked up erica …!!!!!!
when will it come back on in canada????
According to mikesbloggityblog.com Being Erica looks safe for renewal but no date yet. This guy has good contacts and he’s usually right, so here’s hoping….. . I think Erin’s just “resting” for a while in an undemanding role in Life Unexpected which as far as I can see has a 13 episode season up to April 19. Plenty of time for a new Erica.
Love this show! Really looking forward to the third season to find out where that door leads Erica….
I cannot believe they are even contemplating not going ahead with a 3rd season. There are so many shows out there that should not have made it through the first season but they decide to cut a great show like Being Erica. I will be very disappointed if the show does not go on.
Being Erica is my new Favorite show! Please make a season 3!!!
My three girls and I love Being Erica! WOW what a great show with a new story line to follow..(So different than any other show thats out now). We really hope you make season 3 and many more seasons to follow!!
hope this gets to the powers that be, sure hope there’s another several seasons of Being Erica. i can’t imagine it wouldn’t be for lack of sponsors, this show is awesome!
it would be nice at least, to be informed by a reliable source whether they have season 3 in the works for the fall or not. got my fingers crossed!
I just watched the season finale on HULU. Watched both seasons on HULU and cant imagine not getting a season 3. I love this show!!!
BRING BACK ERICA !!!!
PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, Continue with this show!!!! I have Never posted anything on any website but this show is so meaningful, funny, charming, and always keeps you thinking about your own life. Not many show do that.
I LOVE BEING ERICA!!!!!!
Thanks,
Shannon, Illinois
I discovered this show while I was flipping through the guide on my tv. I thought that the title sounded interesting and I never had heard of it before. One day after school I was bored so I decided to watch it and it was, surprisingly, great! I’m the type of person that watches whole series of shows in a weekend just to catch up on a show for the next new episode (the key is hulu!!). So after watching the seasons of Being Erica and catching up on all the episodes I began watching the new episodes! I discovered I love it. I’m a teenage girl that feels sort of independant but lonely. I feel like I go through (or have gone through) what Erica goes through in the show! I love it. I even got my picky older sister into it! that’s saying something. I vote keep. i love this show and it would majorly suck if it weren’t on tv anymore.
I LOVE this show! I thought it was not very well known, but I was wrong! I discovered a bunch of people at my work (girls and guys) love it too! we all talk about it and all say we cant wait to see what happens!
PLEASE PLEASE bring back the show for a third season! please! I am a faithful watcher!
You will have so many fans!
yeah there should be we are waiting….
“Being Erica” – THE most insightful series on the tube today. It ranks up there with “Dead Like Me” – humor, pathos, personal struggles and yet(!) the very minimum of violence, no chase scenes (well not the same KIND of chasing) and a delightful mix of excellent actors making realistic yet amazingly well done scripts come alive. “Being Erica” never fails to trigger some “regret” of my own. I reflect on how, if I could have a blast back into my past, how I would change my behavior for the better.
The brother who died and all the regrets and “misremembered memories” tangled in that relationship I could identify with.
The overcoming of unspeakably vicious treatment in the workplace (bringing up the question of why I allowed that to happen….SEVERAL times!) the feeling of just going where the wind blows me rather than a direction I want to be going in— I am still asking myself where IS that?
While Erica has found her niche. Decades earlier than I, let me add.
“Being Erica” keeps alive the belief in me that all things happen ultimately for the good of ME and my growth, that I am here to learn, and that I AM learning. It reminds me to give myself a break when it’s deserved; not to judge myself (or others) when thoughts of the past are triggered by the present; not to blame others for my shortcomings, or let others keep me from being who I really am.
Why are we here if not to learn from our mistakes…and to forgive ourselves and keep on going? That we are truly happy only when we are truly ourselves.
I plan to send up my shriek that this show for several years REMAINS the leader in a television schedule that otherwise is designed to encourage others to question nothing, not to think, to keep the sheep asleep.
