T
he 61st Primetime Emmy Awards are less than two weeks.
Just as some people were about ready to give up on the awards show and hit the sack early, CBS announced that Neil Patrick Harris would be hosting, making the ceremony a hundred times more interesting. After all, who doesn’t love some NPH? The man can sing, has perfect comedic timing and enough genuine goodwill and likability to rival recent Oscar host Hugh Jackman. And it’s not like Harris is new to the game. He’s already hosted the Creative Arts Emmy Awards, Tony Awards, TV Land Awards, World Magic Awards and Ovation Awards. The Oscars seem like the next step, but I think Harris should just skip ahead to hosting peace talks.
The How I Met Your Mother star also serves as a producer for the Emmy Awards. Host, producer and, hopefully, Emmy winner.
Check out a promo below for the Primetime Emmy Awards, airing Sept. 20 on CBS, in which Harris tells his elementary school classmates to bite him before remembering he was too busy being a TV doctor to go to school.
By the way, if you somehow missed the news, How I Met Your Mother moves to 8 p.m. on Sept. 21. The cast recently hosted a CBS Fall Preview special and managed to make even the introductory segments funny. There’s a song, pants-stealing and Neil and Cobie enjoying the breeze. Here’s an edited down video of the special from YouTube user McPhee06.
