Evil League of Evil Hopefuls

Posted: October 27, 2008 in dr. horrible's sing-along blog, evil league of evil

I can hardly claim to have watched all the application submissions for the Evil League of Evil — I imagine there’s an assistant chained to a computer in a basement somewhere watching hundreds of videos night and day — but here are three of my favorites.

Funniest: Tur-Mohel

This Jewish wannabe Evil Leaguer just wants to circumscribe the Washington Monument. Is that so bad? Plus, while the rest of the League is on Christmas vacation, Tur-Mohel is more than happy to pick up the slack.

Featuring clever play on words and a bouncing Star of David to help you sing-along, this video provides many laughs and a host minion extras.

Best Song: Fury of Solace

It’s obvious from the slick production values of this video and this interview with Fury of Solace and his creator/portrayer Emmett Furey that he and his crew have some Hollywood credits. Besides looking good, the video also features an excellent original song number — the duet “Lot in Life,” which was inspired by the Billy/Penny duet in Dr. Horrible. I dare you not to get it stuck in your head.

Then there’s that great twist, which has left viewers commenting for more. And there will be more in the form of a comic.

Most Creative: The Sock

“How many other villainous socks are there running around? None. You know why? Because I killed them all.”

Yes, Sock, you are one of a kind, in addition to a master of disguises (“Why, no, officer, I did not see any socks go by”).

He may look kind of cute and washed at first, but I don’t think you want to take a spin in his “Tumble Dryer of Not Being Alive Anymore.”
